Sherri Shepherd Weighs in On College Cheating Scandal: ‘You Got to Be Dumb as Hell’

Sherri Shepherd had some harsh words for those caught in the college cheating scandal, especially for actress Lori Loughlin, one of the celebrities involved, along with actress Felicity Huffman.

On Tuesday, March 12, Loughlin and Huffman, along with 50 others, were slapped with felony charges after being accused of doing things like paying large sums of money to have their children’s SAT scores lifted. Others, meanwhile, like Loughlin allegedly bribed coaches to get them on athletics teams.

Shepherd was asked about the scandal on Friday, March 15, and didn’t spare her criticism.

“It’s trips me out how, white privilege, boy, white people, y’all had a good run,” she told TMZ. “I think it’s over. Black people ain’t doing that, and even it’s a storyline. I saw aunt Becky on ‘Full House,’ it was a storyline on ‘Shameless.’”

“You’ll never see that same storyline on ‘Good Times,’ ‘Living Single,’ ‘Girlfriends.’ Never,” she continued. “It’s not a problem for us, because we actually go by the adage work hard, be twice as good, work twice as hard, but it seems to not get you anywhere. … Everybody keeps saying affirmative action is the problem. I don’t think so, I think Lori Loughlin’s money is the problem.”

The former “View” host then called Loughlin’s daughter “dumb” because her mother had the money but still couldn’t get into USC.

“And it costs $500,000 to go to USC anyway,” she said. “You got to be dumb as hell that your mama got the money, get you into USC [but] you still can’t get in so you got to be Photo shopped to row.”

Shepherd also brought up something Jade said before she attended USC, about not really caring about college. Jade is also a social media influencer, and some of her endorsements have already been pulled since the scandal broke.

“I do want the experience of like game days, partying. I don’t really care about school,” said the 19-year-old in a video.

Shepherd said Loughlin that she never should’ve tried to get her daughter in school based on that statement, since she never had any interest in going.

Last week, the former “Full House” actress and her husband Mossimo Giannulli appeared in court to answer the charges, and they posted bonds of $1 million each. Loughlin has also been fired from the Hallmark channel, where she’s worked for a number of years.

Plus, it was announced that she wouldn’t be returning to the fifth and final season of the “Full House” reboot, which streams on Netflix.
