Ever since Cardi B and Offset fixed their marriage and got back together, the Migos rapper has been sticking up for his wife big time.
He first did it late last month after an old video of Cardi surfaced where she admitted to drugging and robbing men when she was a stripper. The Bronx MC received a lot of backlash afterwards, and Offset wrote “Ride or die forever. Love you no matter what’s going on.”
Now the “Father of 4” creator is defending his wife again after he said she paved the way for female rappers.
“All you hoes rap cuz of my wife,” he tweeted then deleted. “Gave y’all h–s hope to not suck d–k the rest of ya life and catch money.”
People immediately brought up the female rappers that made their mark in hip hop before Cardi broke onto the scene.
“Def lil Kim before Cardi. Love Cardi but naw n—a,” someone wrote.
“I’m pretty sure female rappers existed before her,” another person tweeted.
“Acting as if Nicki Minaj didn’t carry female rap for a mf decade,” wrote a third.
Offset then shot back and said after his wife dropped “Bodak Yellow” “The world followed a suit.”
Afterwards, people brought up other artists who’ve paved the way for female rappers, which made Offset clarify his initial message. Plus, a lot of folks said Cardi couldn’t have paved the way, because she admitted to using a ghostwriter.
“Not talking bout prior female artist talking bout the female artist that come from my wife background,” wrote the Migos member.
“Every bartender stripper with the dream of getting out the club it’s nun wrong with that but my wife help guide ur life to try to rap all u dumb ass ppl at home on couch tweeting suck my b-lls not talking bout established artist like the legands and the ones before Cardi,” added the Atlanta rapper.
But people continued to blast him and he chalked up the criticism to pure hate. The “Bad and Boujee” lyricists also told his detractors he’s too rich to get upset about their responses.
Then in his last tweets on the matter, Offset said it’s black folks who seem to give him the hardest time on social media.
“We set my kids set I own properties and my mama rich too we having u typing mostly black ppl against they own smh u want your own ppl down but I don’t care,” he tweeted.
Cardi decided not to weigh in on any of this.
