Mystikal won’t be heading to trial against the federal government for $2.9 million in back taxes that he owed. The Louisiana rapper was sued by the feds in 2017, after they claimed he never paid taxes from 1997-2002, plus, in 2007, 2008 and 2011-2013.

Fortunately for Mystikal, he reportedly reached a deal with the U.S. government to settle the debt, and the judge in the case has already been notified.

“The parties have reached an agreement to settle the plaintiff’s cause of action against the defendant in its entirety, although the necessary documentation has not yet been accomplished,” the court documents reportedly read. “In addition to this notice, the parties have informed both the Clerk’s Office and Chambers of this settlement.”

But Mystikal probably won’t be able to relax too much, because he’s still dealing with charges of first degree rape and second-degree kidnapping from an alleged incident at a Shreveport casino in 2016.

In 2017 he turned himself in after a warrant was issued for his arrest. He then spent nearly 18 months behind bars until he was released on a $3 million bond in February.

“It’s a test of faith, you know, walk of faith,” said Mystikal after he was freed. “Sometimes you have to open up the circumstances and it’ll be a walk of faith. This thing here, it could be a tomb where you’re sitting in there deteriorating or it could be a cocoon where you can come out of that thing, I don’t want to say a butterfly, but you could be a hero when you come out of there.”

Mystikal also pleaded guilty to sexual battery and extortion in 2003 after his hairstylist said she was forced to have sex with the rapper and two bodyguards after they accused her of stealing money.

The trial for his 2017 rape and kidnapping charge begins in May of this year.
