‘I’ll Do Whatever it Takes’: Nipsey Hussle’s Ex Breaks Down at Guardianship Hearing For Daughter Emani

Tanisha Foster, who has a daughter named Emani Asghedom with the late rapper Nipsey Hussle, appeared in an L.A. County Superior Court on Tuesday for a hearing surrounding the guardianship of the 10-year-old.

Hussle’s sister Samantha Smith and his brother Blacc Sam were present as well, and TMZ reports that Foster broke down in tears after seeing her daughter, which she claimed was for the first time in months. That’s because Asghedom had been living with her father prior to his slaying in March.

Smith filed for legal documents for guardianship in April and stated she’s always had a close relationship with Asghedom, and that Foster isn’t able to provide a stable environment for her.

The late rapper’s sister said she wanted “to ensure the continued stability for Emani and ensure that she will be able to maintain her current and ongoing relationship” with family.

Samm, meanwhile, filed a declaration with the courts to back his sister’s desire to care for their niece.

At the same time, he’s filed separate legal documents to control his brother’s assets, said to be in the neighborhood of $2 million. Sam has stated that a slew of business opportunities have developed since his brother’s death that he now needs to oversee.

Hussle didn’t have a will, but he set up multiple trust funds for his daughter, as well as his 2-year-old son Kross Asghedom. He also owned his own master recordings and a store in his South Los Angeles neighborhood called The Marathon Clothing.

In fact, Hussle’s family stopped crowdfunding campaigns that started soon after his death due to his kids’ future being financially secure.

As for Foster, she vowed to fight Smith for guardianship and after the hearing said “I love my daughter and I’ll do whatever it takes to get her back.” She also wrote something similar on Instagram before the hearing.

“Love my kids I’ll always rise to the occasion for them ❤️,” she stated.

Hussle — who was in a relationship with Lauren London — was shot and killed on March 31 outside of his Marathon Clothing Store. A man named Eric Holder was arrested on April 2 and charged with one count of murder and one count of possession of a firearm by a felon.

He was also charged with two counts of murder for shooting two others on the scene, and his bond was set at $5 million.

The guardianship hearing for Asghedom will continue on Friday, May 17, where a final decision is supposed to be made.
