A new photo Wendy Williams’ official Instagram account posted to the show’s page had fans alarmed after they initially thought she was with her estranged husband.
Williams was out in New York City Thursday night with her younger brother, Thomas Williams Jr., whom she refers to as Tommy. He accompanied the TV personality to Rick Ross’ “Port Of Miami 2” album release celebration at Villain event venue.
“Guess who’s escorting us tonight!! If you’re a true WENDY watcher you know!” teased “The Wendy Williams Show” social media manager Aug. 8.
Several fans were alarmed after they thought the talk show host had been with Kevin Hunter, whom she filed to divorce in April.
“Chow I just clutched my pearls😩 I thought that was ur ex🤦🏾♀️🤦🏾♀️🤦🏾♀️”
“Thought it was Kevin and almost went into cardiac arrest.”
“Thought it was Kalvin at first. Hopefully it’s not or im unfollowing. Stay strong Wendy 👑”
“Bruh, I thought this was Kevin at first. Whew! Keep on enjoying your hot girl Summer auntie.”
Still, several fans correctly identified the man in the photo as Williams’ sibling.
“For those who just had a heart attack…this is her brother Tommy. 😂💜”
“You know it’s bad when everybody I mean everybody had the same thought. False alarm guys it’s her brother.🤗 I never been so glad to see somebody brother before. Hey Tommy!!”
“Your brother looks good. You look happy.”
Although Wendy is moving on from her husband after their more than two-decade marriage, she recently revealed on “Sway in the Morning” that she harbors no ill will toward the father of her 18-year-old son. This despite Hunter reportedly welcoming a baby with his decade-long mistress Sharina Hudson in March.
“I want a divorce, and I want to be friends with Kevin,” she said. “I mean, and not because we have a son but because that was real love. … I still have love for him, and I wish him the best in his new life with his new family.”
During the same sit-down, Williams nixed reports that she is gearing up to take Hunter back as her business manager despite her retaining a new one in the form of legendary Hollywood producer Bernie Young.
“The only business that he can manage right now is to sign some divorce papers,” she said. “I have a manager. It’s Bernie Young out there.”
But the end of her business dealings and marriage with Hunter doesn’t mean Williams is going to air him out in public. When she hits the road for her comedy tour this fall, she won’t take jabs at her estranged spouse.
“The first thing I clear up is if you’re looking for me to throw [him] under the bus, then you’re at the wrong show. There’s other stuff to talk about. Like when do you take your wig off?” she said.
