Nene Leakes is bound and determined to make sure she gets her proper credit for her impact on “The Real Housewives of Atlanta.”
The longtime star of the Bravo series made that clear when she retweeted a list of stars from “The Real Housewives” franchises on the network who have been on their respective shows since day one.
“Let’s put facts out there.. if it wasnt for these housewives in the show , their city would’ve been like real housewives of d.c,” tweeted @lizarhen on Aug. 10. Then, the Twitter user proceeded to list the stars of “RHOA,” The Real Housewives of Orange County,” “The Real Housewives of New York City,” “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills,” and “The Real Housewives of New Jersey” who have all had long runs on the programs. They are Vicki Gunvalson of the”RHOC,” Leakes, Bethenny Frankel from “RHONY”, Lisa Vanderpump, who recently left “RHOBH,” and Teresa Giudice from “RHONJ.”
Leakes caught wind of the memo and retweeted it adding, “BE VERY CLEAR☝🏾”
But while Leakes seemed pleased by her tweet, her followers found her argument about her status on the show tired.
Many sounded off on the fact that Leakes walked away from the show after seven years, becoming a guest during season 8 and skipping out on season 9 altogether, instead focusing on acting and stage gigs. She rejoined during season 10 and has been a full-time peach holder ever since. But in her absence, viewers continued to tune in to the ensemble show.
“This OG stuff is tiring at this point.”
“How come the show went on when NeNe left for Hollywood? And when Teresa went to prison? And when Bethenny got married and left? None of these shows will ever crumble because one member leaves. The problem now is that almost all the casts suck and fresh blood is needed.”
“Ummmmm that’s not true …. we went a season without her … she didn’t have to comeback 😩😂😂😭”
“Nene might have played a huge factor in the Atlanta franchise. But that doesn’t mean she isn’t irreplaceable.”
Leakes is set to head into her 10th full-time season on “RHOA” when season 12 bows in November. After severing ties with the majority of her cast members during the season 11 reunion, she’s reportedly been attempting to make amends with her co-stars.
Kandi Burruss disclosed to HollywoodLife.com that Leakes is now “trying to work on some relationships in the group.”
